We have some very exciting news for you today.
The Copenhagen edition of Twestival Local is coming together slowly, but nicely. Today we want to share with you two things - the date for the event and the cause that we will support.
First, a note, though. Last time we managed to pull everything together in 23 days. This year, incidentally, we are doing the same thing. Obviously we are better prepared this time (in the sense that we know how to approach the task), but we still need a lot of help from you guys. If the company where you work (or which you own) wants to support Copenhagen Twestival, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’ll be happy to tell you more about how to support the event.
Then some announcements:
The Copenhagen Twestival event is being held at September 10, 2009. We had the opportunity to place it in the timeframe from September 10-12, but we feel that going out to an event like this on a Thursday is much better than trying to pull something together on a Friday or Saturday. The time will be the same as last year - from 19 to 23(ish). This way everybody can have some dinner and come out for a few beers and good company afterwards.
Moreover, we are also proud to announce that the Child Cancer Foundation (Børnecancerfonden) has agreed to team up with us on this great event. A small presentation on the work the Foundation is doing:
The purpose of the Child Cancer Foundation is to increase the information about cancer in children, to strengthen research in methods of treatment and to improve the conditions for these children.
In Denmark, 150 children each year are diagnosed with cancer. 30 years ago almost every child died. Today three out of four children are cured. Our goal is to cure every child with cancer. In order to reach this goal we need funds to strengthen the ongoing research and to educate qualified specialists in childhood cancer. Furthermore we need money to help the families by giving the children memorable moments to help them sustain a difficult time with treatments and hospitalisation.
The Child Cancer Foundation is solely based on donations and voluntary gifts from private individuals, other foundations, companies and associations. We need all the help, we can get.
Obviously we are very excited about this, and we hope to get at least the same amount of people to attend this year as last, but our goals and strategies will be further elaborated at a later point. The important part for you is to mark your calendars and empty the piggybanks so we can give a lot of money for this great cause.
That’s all for now - hope to give more announcements in the following days…
